Plan B: Become a Pirate

Because that's what you do when all else fails

F.A.Q.

So I finally finished it! On to the questions I’ve been asked the most:

1. I love your blog! But could you make a separate one for quotes/Deadpool/comics/etc.?

Thank you! But no. I will never make sub blogs because this one is who I am. I am a writer, I am a comic book lover, I am a True Four member.  I like movies, food, books, travel, and interesting things. Tho I have started tagging things and provide handy dandy links to make things easier to find.

2. What do you do? / What qualifies you to critique my story?

I story edit (for anything really but mostly scripts and manuscripts and as of last year COMIC BOOKS!)

Buuuut  I’m mainly a Reader.

3. Haha me too!

No, you’re not. It’s my literal job. I am an exclusive Reader for a Hollywood producer. It means I get paid to read scripts and then tell my boss what I think of them. More accurately it’s basically getting paid to rage against God awful movies of the future.

That’s right, the crap movies you see today are the crap scripts I read months to years ago and told my boss that they were crap. And oh look, they’re crap.

4. OMG! How did you get that job?

You too can be a Reader in four easy steps. Step one: Go to Hollywood. Step two: Do slave labor. Step three: Get screwed over. Step four: Get hired as a Reader.

See, simple.

5. I wish I had that job =(

Trust me, you really don’t! Keep in mind I don’t get paid to read whatever I want. I get paid to read stuff that is most of the time mind numbingly awful.

6. How did you become an editor?

I kinda fell into it. I guest lectured at some scriptwriting classes and started getting a ton of requests for edits on scripts/manuscripts. One day I did a partial edit and said that I just didn’t have the time for a full one unless they wanted to hire me as an editor. They loved the work I did and were more than willing to hire me and it snowballed from there.

7. Will you edit/read my story/essay/synopsis/pitch/script/etc.?

The short answer is maybe. If it isn’t market season and I don’t have too many clients on my plate, I’d be happy to take a look at a PORTION of your work.  If you want me to do an entire manuscript or script, we can always discuss rates (I do take some trades) and what comes with it.

I’m always willing to give help, advice, and answer questions so never be afraid to ask. Think of it this way, you can’t complain about not having any resources cause you have one right here and you’re the one not using it ;)

8. So, what’re you working on?

Why how kind of you to ask. Even tho I have a few finished scripts, Hollywood is a fickle bitch and keeps rescheduling on me. So while she gets her act together I’m going to focus on my graphic novel and a book that I’m a quarter finished with.
